Brassica napus

Life cycle: annual

Workhorse kale mix originating rom a cross of Red Russian and Frank Morton’s White Russian kales. Selected for years at Ivory Silo Farm in Westport, Massachusetts for vigor and cold-hardiness.

Growing conditions: Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Keep consistently moist.

Sowing instructions: Sow 3-4 weeks before planting out through the season at 12-18 inches apart in rows 18-30 inches apart. Direct sow when soils are warming to 45 F. Can be grown for microgreens and baby kale production. Protect from flea beetles when young and in the field or garden.
